About Upcycling

Upcycling is also known as creative reuse, the process of transforming by-products, waste materials or unwanted products into new materials or products perceived to be of greater quality or environmental value. In our case, upcycling means we work with local farmers, grocers, food producers and/or manufacturers to rescue the produce that would normally be destined for the landfill, incinerators or animal feed and upcycle it into finely milled, nutrient-dense powders. They are in turn sold to other companies committed to sustainability and used in our consumer products.

We work with various partners and it's our goal to work with local farmers as much as possible to reduce the carbon footprint of our sustainable supply chain.

Other

We have production facilities in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Burlington, Ontario.

We currently only ship to Canada and the US. But stay tuned - we're growing. Where would you like to see us next?

Packaging & Shipping

Make sure the bag is completely empty and recycle it. Or better yet, reuse it to store dog treats, yarn, flour, or pack them up with snacks for hike.

Shipping will take anywhere from 5 to 7 business days.

We ship our sample bundles sustainably using letter mail, which is less packaging and better for the environment.

Product Questions

Yes. Our products are 100% plant-based, vegan, of-the-earth. We use plants and we make sure our sustainable protein tastes delicious.

Outcast's plant-based protein has a higher nutrient-density, is more environmentally friendly than whey and uses less water. Plant-Based upcycled protein gives you the 'peas' of mind that what you’re putting in your body is clean, healthy and sustainable. Plant-based protein is better, there, we said it.

Our products are for anyone who loves an incredible tasting protein shake or super effective supplement. No matter what you eat during the rest of the day, you can be sure you'll enjoy your clean, sustainably produced, delicious Outcast products, while save the planet, too.

Yes, whole plant foods are a terrific source of protein and the amino acid profile of plant protein is just as robust as meat. You get all the benefits of protein powder, plus super clean nutrition while helping to save surplus produce from landfills, incenerators and becoming animal feed.

Although our products are nut-free, they are made in a facility that also processes milk, soy, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, crustacean shellfish and wheat (gluten).

Our products are sugar-free. We do use Stevia in some products, a natural sweetener derived from the leaves of the Stevia Plant.

We do use some natural flavouring in a few products. As an example, our SuperGreens are flavoured with pineapple and coconut.

Our Outcast Protein and SuperGreens are great for kids. Even better, our younger fans won’t know they’re getting the nutrition of fruits and vegetables when you make them a chocolate smoothie.

Most people enjoy it as a shake or smoothie. Just mix one scoop with 8 to 16 ounces of liquid. Directions are on the package. Refer to our recipes section for other ideas.
